First we had thought about visiting the national history museum, which is often dubbed the best national history museum in Korea, but then we found out it was closed on mondays. Then we thought about visiting an old buddhist temple but found out it was closing soon and the bus journey would take 40 minutes. Frustrated, we ate some ice cream on a bus stop whilst deciding out next move. In the end we decided on visiting Tumuli park. With an entrance fee of 1500W (1,05€) you get to roam around in a park full of dead people. Ok, ancient burial mounds that look a lot like something out of Lord Of The Rings. To my great relief, George didn't quote one single line from the film, but then again he's visited the park several times before (people holding a card that states you live in Gyeongju get in for free) so maybe he did all that LARPing on the previous visits. Tomorrow is expected to be a lot colder day (we've been enjoying some +24-27°C weather. Hahahaha, eat my ass, freezing Finnish people) so we'll aim for the museum again. Here's Tumuli park.
Entrance gate. These are mum's favourite colours, and also mum's favourite method of beaming a roof.
Seriously, everyone has nike free runs. So I bought some free runs too.
Yeah yeah, whatever.
George's natural facial expression.
George has told me that there are chipmunks abundance around. To my disappointment, I saw NONE.
He's seen more impressive ponds.
An exciting game of "will this foreign bird poop on me?"
Gyeongju is often called "the Museum without Walls". I think this is because you're not allowed to touch anything.
The park is very close to city center so we headed out for dinner after our little park ranger moments. I was craving beef after eating chicken for several days straight (George tells me that "do you like chicken?" is the most common question his students ask him), and I knew just the place for some. A steak restaurant called The Stek. In my opinion, a place that misspells its own speciality, cannot not be hilarious.
All food options were a set menu. The food was good. This was George's reaction shot for the dessert.
You call two truffels a dessert? Fuck you, Stek!!
